Ideally located in the heart of Touraine, it will be easy to visit the surrounding châteaux and small picturesque villages. Right next door is Loir-et-Cher where you’ll see the château de Chambord and the Zoo Parc de Beauval, they are a one-hour and 30-minute drive from Chenonceaux. You’ll definitely find something to occupy your children, surrounded by a beautiful landscape!
Moreover, you can combine cultural visits with relaxing times in nature: for example, you could go for a (hike) or a ride on a cycle trail, or even enjoy a moment on the river Cher.
Family Park in Saint-Martin-le-Beau (15mn from Chenonceaux): Experience thrills in the various attractions of the park such as flying chairs, inflatables, bumper cars, slides, the circus and more!
Lulu Park in Rochecorbon (5mn from Tours): Mini golf, trampolines, aquatic slide…. Come and spend a fun day here with your family! Take time to enjoy the open-air café on the banks of the River Loire and night-time animations.
Gadawi Park in Tours : There are two locations in Tours for rope course, you’ll have so much fun at the top of the trees with all your family! (from 3 years old)

Castle and museum
What would the Touraine region be without its rich history, its key sites and their audacious and sumptuous architecture? Come and discover the jewels of the Loire Valley, starting with the château de Chenonceau of course!
Château de Chenonceau : This château is one of the major sites of the Loire Valley; your children will have fun in the Italian maze and the 16th cy farm! There even are donkeys and other animals like hens. Chenonceau has a guided visit on Ipod that’s especially designed for children too. You will be able to imagine life back in this moment of history thanks to the amazing furniture
Forteresse de Montbazon : You can also find medieval castles in Touraine, situated 15mn South from Tours, you’ll discover medieval crafts such as stonemason, blacksmith, crossbows or storyteller. Your children will even go back home with the objects they made!
Château d’Ussé : This is the château that inspired Charles Perrault for his tale Sleeping Beauty. Dive into the world of fairy tales thanks to the amazing collection of period costumes and the marvellous architecture! The youngest will dream while adults will fall back into their childhood memories!
Château de Langeais : Two castles in one! In Langeais you’ll see the oldest château in France which was built by Foulques Nerra in 994 but also the château built by Louis XI in 1465. Wander in the rooms and go back in time when witnessing a reconstitution of the wedding of Charles VIII and Anne de Bretagne. There also are plenty of animations throughout the year!
Château Royal d’Amboise : The château overlooks the River Loire so it offers a splendid view over the territory! Many animations are implemented to entertain children and spend a pleasant moment discovering French history!
Château du Clos Lucé : Leonardo da Vinci’s last home… The genius lived in Amboise for the last 3 years of his life, his works and inventions are displayed in the house and around the park: you can try and use 20 spectacular machines such as the helicopter or the revolving bridge.
Château de Cheverny : Explore the furnished rooms of this Renaissance château and then discover what hunting with hounds is. The feeding of the dogs takes place a 11:30 every day. Have a stroll on a boat or in an electric car in the park! You can also visit the museum about the comics series The Adventures of Tintin, as Cheverny inspired Marlinspike Hall.
Château de Montpoupon : There is a guided tour in French for children every Wednesday and Friday at 4pm called “Sur les pas de Louise”. Louise was the owner’s maid at the begining of the 20th cy, she invites you to discover the château, its secrets and everyday life in the house. The tour lasts 50mn and is included in the ticket.
Otherwise there is a tour with a paper guide where children will find questions and enigmas to solve while they’re visiting the château. It is called « Solange enquête à Montpoupon ».
Zoo Parc de Beauval : One of the ten most beautiful zoos in the world is only 30km away from Chenonceaux! This gigantic zoo is located in Saint-Aignan-sur-Cher, it hosts hundreds of species that will entertain children as well as adults during a day or more! There are many different animas like giant pandas, lions and cheetahs, hippos, snakes and more! There are 2 shows running every day with sealions and birds. You will find numerous activities and restaurants, as well as hotels near Beauval to make unforgettable memories!
Aquarium de Touraine : Located in Lussault-sur-Loire (15mn from Chenonceaux), this aquarium hosts fish that can be found in our rivers but also those you can find all around the world!
Safari Train : Located in Autrèche (30mn from Chenonceaux), you’ll be able to see wildlife from a train: deers, wild boars, bison and ostriches! These animals often aren’t well-known by people, so this trip in the forest will be fun for both children and parents!
This city sightseeing tours in trains are the perfect option to see the essential monuments of a city! They exist in Amboise and Tours: the commented visit lasts 40mn.
