1 Day :
Visiting the château de Chenonceau in the morning
Start the day with the visit of the château de Chenonceau : you’ll enjoy exploring this majestic site as you’ll discover the exceptional architecture of the château which extends over the River Cher. You’ll fall in love with the beauty of the flowery gardens too! Nicknamed the “Ladies’ château”, Chenonceau stands out because of its amazing preservation, its rich heritage and its fabulous interiors. If you like gardens you’ll be able to wander around in the alleys between the beautiful flowerbeds of the château or go back to childhood in the maze!
Plan on spending at least 1h inside the château and at least 2h to 3h for the entire visit, you could also spend half a day there if you take your time.
Have lunch in the château or in the village
For lunch, you could either eat at the cafeteria or the gastronomic restaurant of the château, the Orangerie, or go out and choose a table at la Roseraie, l’Auberge du Bon Laboureur, le Relais de Chenonceaux or le Gâteau Breton!
Enjoy a soothing afternoon along the river
Spend a relaxing afternoon discovering the River Cher and its banks.
3 options: Go canoeing on the River Cher, you’ll go at your own pace, or hop on a gabare, a traditional boat, for a narrated tour. You could also go for a walk around Chenonceaux, you’ll find the map of an 8km-buckle at the tourist office.
Finally, to end up this beautiful day, there’s nothing better than discovering the tuffeau stone and its well-kept secrets by visiting one of our troglodytic cellars such as the cellars of Bourré (15 km away from Chenonceaux). You will enjoy this charming small village with a storytelling of the origins/heritage of the tuffeau stone that led to the incredible architecture of the Renaissance era.
A peaceful evening
During the evenings, you will find many events all year long on our territory. You can also stop by a wine cellar to have a glass of wine or even enjoy the warm and convivial atmosphere of a small guinguette (open-air tavern on the riverside).
2 Days :
An unusual visit at the château de Montpoupon
The following morning, you could go to the château de Montpoupon in Céré-la-Ronde (10km away from Chenonceaux). This private castle has travelled through the ages while keeping its charm and elegance. This very well-furnished château also offers a magnificent frame for walks. You will also find the museum dedicated to hunting with hounds, a very beautiful collection of objects, photos and memories of the family and their passion. Discover the green landscapes and the neighbouring foot paths to enjoy the beauty of the countryside. For your lunch, you’ll find delicious traditional and gastronomic restaurants.
Ride your bike!
Let’s have a stroll on a bike! Will it be short or long, you’ll definitely enjoy a ride in the vineyards, along the river or through the fields. Get a map in our (tourist office) and find your tour, depending on your level! Then enjoy the beautiful landscapes and a nice afternoon on your bike! You can rent any kind of bike: mountain bike, trek bike, electric bike, family bike…
Enjoy a playful activity with your children
Have fun with your family in one of the amusement park : inflatables, guinguettes (open-air tavern on the riverside), big wheel, ponies… You will have a good time doing numerous activities, near Chenonceaux!
After these two days in our beautiful Valley of the Cher, it’s time to hit the road … But don’t hesitate to come back here, there is so much to discover and you are in the heart of the Touraine!
3 Days :
For your third and last day, discover the city of Amboise, on the banks of the River Loire. You will be charmed by the three castles in town: the château Royal, the Clos Lucé and the château Gaillard . And to go faster, why not take the small touristic train!
After having lunch nearby the castle, have a stroll in a and discover in a funny way the last wild river of France.
Finally, to end up your stay in Touraine, taste one of the PDO Touraine wines in one of the closest cellars in Bléré, Chenonceaux, Saint-Martin-le-Beau, Amboise, Civray-de-Touraine, Montlouis-sur-Loire or Vouvray.
